The Pyramids | Giza, Egypt

I really want to do Egypt justice in this series of posts.  It is a country of so much beauty and complexity.  I will likely wax poetic on that as I continue, but for now I will ease into my first day, and the very first thing I did in Egypt.  We drove three hours from the Port of Alexandria into Cairo, and straight to the pyramids without any stops.

Coming off the bus, it was extremely hot and I had complete sensory overload.  I have wanted to go to Egypt my entire life, and it was really a “pinch me” moment to actually be there.  It was almost too much to handle, but I quickly got my footing and started snapping my camera with my mouth gaping open.

As a little girl I often pretended to be an archaeologist, and would read any book on Egypt I could get my hands on.  In fact, this stop was the impetus of the entire trip.  Talk about a lot of pressure on one moment!  I may have been tearing up, but I really tried my best to soak in the moment and that feeling.  It was different than I expected, but completely worth it.

Of course I had to take a zillion photos.  Approximately.

And a pyramid selfie.

We drove out a distance to get a better view of all of the pyramids as well.

It was absolutely amazing.

OH MY GOSH YOU WENT TO EGYPT?! I am so, so jealous. That trip has been on my bucket list for basically my entire life. My husband has photos of him and his family in front of the pyramids when he is just a baby, they're so cool!

It has always been a dream of mine to see the pyramids. Weird that I still didn't manage to go since it's really not that far from here. It's wonderful that you got to enjoy them. Looking forward to read more. Happy thanksgiving by the way.

Egypt was always so high on my list of places to visit. Such a bummer I didn't do it before the kiddos.

Your awesome pics are making me think that I still might go for it once the kids are bigger and can travel easily.

Looks like such a great time. I want to see more.

Girl, you live the life I've always wanted! How did you feel safety wise while you were there? My hubs and I want to go so badly, but he is super worried that I will be kidnapped and murdered….so I want to hear how fantastic it was :)

Awww I love this!! I went to Egypt a few years back it's so surreal to actually see the pyramids in real life, we went inside one, I'm not sure if you are still allowed inside as our guide said that soon you wouldn't be even allowed up close to them! Love your pics as usual xx

Ah such good memories! Visiting the Great Pyramids was one of my favorite trips of all time. I still can't get over the fact that there was a KFC directly across the 'road' from the Sphinx!
