Munich, Outdoor Library.

As we continued our self-guided (no plans) walking tour of Munich, we stumbled upon an open air portable library in Odeonsplatz Square.  Such a delight!  The building with the large arched pillars is the Feldherrnhalle, which honors the Bavarian Army.  Under its shadows there were chairs and bean bags laid out where books could be checked out and read.  Teenagers were hanging out (gasp, reading!) with their friends, and everyone seemed super relaxed.  What a great concept!  I’m sure this must exist in other places as well, but was a first for me.

Also in the Odeonsplatz Square is the Theatine Church, which is a great color of yellow, if I do say so.

The square is also flanked by the Residenz and Bavarian State Opera.  It is a great area in the city with lots of movement, energy, and things to do!
We kept walking through Munich until we wound up at the Platzl.  As opposed to our first day in the city, it was bright and sunny, so I thought I would include some sun-drenched photos of the area…
Munich- brought to you by blue skies, beer, and bright colors! 😉

So darling! I would have absolutely loved this. Odeonsplatz was also one of my favorite plazas when I visited Munich… but sadly it was pouring down rain the whole time I was there! I'm so jealous you got to enjoy it in the sun!
